About the Doctor
A nuclear engineer and researcher who contributed to the development of Jordan’s nuclear-energy institutions

Dr. Ali Al-Murr is among Jordan’s early specialists in nuclear engineering. His career has combined engineering, institutional planning, scientific research, and technical administration. He studied engineering in Libya, pursued specialized studies in nuclear engineering in Pakistan, and later undertook advanced studies in radiation physics in Poland. He began his professional career in Libya, where he contributed to the establishment of the Nuclear Research Centre at Tajoura near Tripoli and worked on engineering aspects of the centre’s developing infrastructure. After returning to Jordan in 1979, he began working in 1980 on the development of peaceful applications of nuclear energy and contributed to building the institutional, legislative, and regulatory foundations of the sector. His work included scientific studies and planning, radiation protection and safety programmes, professional training, and participation in national projects related to nuclear research, uranium, environmental radiation monitoring, and emergency preparedness. Throughout his career, he held engineering, managerial, and advisory positions and contributed to the gradual development of Jordan’s nuclear-energy institutions from a small administrative unit into specialized national bodies. He later devoted increasing attention to scientific research, writing, and publishing in the fields of energy, nuclear energy, radiation protection, and the environment.
